Technical Benefits

Vividas provides unique technology to stream high quality live video over corporate networks. Vividas live streams are distributed from standard web servers, also enabling instant archiving for on demand viewing. The major benefits over competitive live products are quality, reach, simplicity and cost.

Quality: Vividas uses the best compression technology to deliver sharp broadcast quality images at bit rates less than 1Mbps. Vividas playback is hardware accelerated, meaning that full screen video is sharp and plays at full frame rate

Reach: Vividas live streams are delivered from and can be cached on standard web servers, therefore Vividas live streams can be widely delivered over existing corporate intranet infrastructure without requiring additional proprietary server software/hardware and without adversely affecting the performance of enterprise applications running on the Wide Area Network. Vividas can use Sun Java to execute a stand alone player delivered in the first 400KB of the stream. This means Vividas will run across any corporate environment that incorporates Java without violating any security policy that prevents the installation of non standard client software. Where Java is not available the Vividas player can also be run as an activeX control.

Simplicity: Live streams can be automatically cached as they are delivered and can be made immediately available for on-demand viewing. They can also be annotated with chapter points on the fly. This eliminates the need to edit and encode a second version of the event for on-demand viewing. As there is generally no need to install client software and no need for proprietary servers or additional software or hardware to mitigate for the effect on network performance usually associated with live streaming, Vividas is simple to implement and use.

Cost: Implementation of a live streaming solution across a medium to large enterprise is usually associated with significant cost in terms of time and acquisition and implementation of new infrastructure. As most corporate networks are already capable of running Vividas and delivering live streams to a large number of concurrent users without degrading network performance, a Vividas solution can be implemented with less effort and cost that other conventional solutions.
